"I first discovered Chinese medicine when I met an acupuncturist at the beach one day while I was living on the Big Island of Hawaii in 1998. This acupuncturist encouraged me to try a treatment for digestive problems I had been experiencing for years, and after three treatments and herbal medicine for two weeks, problems I'd had for years resolved completely, and months later, inspired by what I experienced, and by the transformations I saw happening for other patients at this clinic for much more serious conditions, I decided to submit an application to The Traditional Chinese Medicine College of Hawaii on the Big Island to study this medicine! After a year and a half of study there, I decided to transfer to a top-10 graduate program for Chinese medicine studies in the U.S.- the Academy of Oriental Medicine at Austin, Graduate School of Integrative Medicine in Austin, Texas and completed in 2003 a Master of Science degree in Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, with a Minor in Zen Shiatsu. I was a licensed acupuncturist in Texas for two years, and have been licensed in Arizona since 2005."

"I met my first peripheral neuropathy patient in Austin, Texas in 2004. She was an 83 year old woman who had no feeling from her knees to her toes, and 90% loss of feeling between her forearms and fingertips. She had to use a walker because she could not feel her feet, and would fall otherwise. She often experienced burning pain in these limbs so she relied on a prescription of Gabapentin for her searing nerve pain that would occur at times in her feet and hands. I treated this patient with a specialized acupuncture treatment which I designed from my studies for neuropathic ailments twice weekly for 12 weeks WITH herbal medicine - the acupuncture treatment and herbal medicine were designed to improve blood circulation the her limbs to encourage her atrophied nerves to grow again and restore circulation. At 11 weeks, she reported to me that she couldn't believe it! She had 95% restored feeling in her arms & hands, legs & feet, no longer had been taking Gabapentin, and was no longer using her walker. She wanted to stop treatments because she so happy but we continued for two more treatments just to see if we could improve some more. At that twelfth week we discontinued treatment, and she continued to feel great the last time I was in contact with her 8 months later."
